If all goes right, I will be defecting from the 996 world to the 997 world tomorrow evening.

Here is my question. IIRC, the overall lengths of the 996 and the 997 are the same, right? What about the wheelbase? Specfically, does anyone know whether the measurement from the centerline of the rear axle to the edge of the rear bumperette has changed from the 996 to the 997?

Finally, the aerokit does NOT increase the overall length of the car, because the lower lip spoiler does not extend out past the tip of the nose of the car, right?

I am taking a breather from RACING and DEs. I considered taking a break from P-Cars altogether, but the spirit is willing and the flesh is very weak.

With this new car, I could possibly do very limited DEs next year on an arrive and drive basis. Maybe four for the whole year, including one each at Summit Point, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen and VIR. Nothing more than that, which represents a HUGE downgrade from my track schedule over the past few years.

That is extremely helpful. I am so glad that the 997 is a little shorter. Now, if I can just confirm that the dimension from the center of the rear axle to the edge of the rear bumperette remained the same as the 996, I will be set!

If someone is at home and you have your beautiful 997 S sitting in the garage, could you measure this for me? I would be very grateful. I bring home my new baby tomorrow, and I don't know if it will fit in my garage. With my 996, I have about 1" to spare in front and back. If the 997 has a different length from rear axle to bumperette, I will need to move my parking stop, which is the only thing that keeps me from hitting the wall of the elevator mechanical room in my house, which protrudes into my parking spot. I would hate to mar up the car on my first time parking it at home. Thanks!

I measured 41"-42" on my car, which is not a C2S but a close sibling. Distance is center of rear wheel to edge of protrusion at the rear. This was eyeballed against a tape measure, after a good glass of wine, so "buyer beware"!

For everyone's future reference, although the 996 and the 997 have the same wheelbase and same overall length, it appears that the 997 is about 1 1/2 inches or so shorter from the center of the rear axle to the edge of the bumperette.
