Default Farewell, my first Porsche...

A sad day of sorts. My dealer had a buyer for my 997 and so I sold her today (after 17 months and 23,000 miles). I'm getting my TT early next year and this seemed to be a good time for selling a convertible.

Bought a 2008 Tribute on my way home... not a bad car, but it's going to be one looooong wait until Feb/March.

Well, it'll all be worth it when the TT arrives.

BTW, regarding the topaz-ish car in your avatar, did you get color codes from Dan/Edgy01??

Hey Wolfgang, I didn't know you were getting an Audi TT.

Oh, I see from your sig that you mean a Turbo.

Is it too late to make changes on your order? I'd suggest going with a darker interior. Maybe natural grey if not black. Or the 2-tone black/grey with black deviating carpet.

Oh well. It won't be long.

Wofgang, what options did you put on your TT, is it going to be a cab?
Thinking of getting my name on the list as well

I downloaded that picture from an online article in Autobild, but if I remember correctly, it was way off from the other pics in the same article. They just played with the colors. I honestly don't know what the color is (or would be)...

Pssss... it's the Audi alright... It's funny you say this, though, because I'm obviously aware of the whole TT vs. Turbo what-to-call-it discussion, so I was surprised to see that at Park Place Porsche in Dallas, they are actually calling it the 'TT' on their non-factory stickers. Usually I only see 'Turbo', but I guess 'TT' is shorter and technically more correct.

I agree, I think dark would look great. In the end, I simply went with what I know I liked the best. In a way it's boring that I ordered the same combination again, but then again it's simply what I enjoy the most.

No cab this time, I wanted a coupe for a change (most of the year it has been too hot for the cab; if I change my mind again, I'll get something small for the evening hours [Beetle cab or alike]). Option-wise, most of the stuff I wanted is already included (power seats, dimming mirrors, nav, etc.). In addition, I went with sport chrono, adaptive seats, heated seats (even in Louisiana, chicks seem to dig those), differential lock, and some small items (thicker steering wheel etc.).

I've never seen Porsche refer to it as a TT. If they don't, then technically it's not correct. Maybe the reason they don't is because Audi may own the trademark on the TT name.

I know if I had a Turbo or was getting one, I would never refer to it as a TT. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was getting an Audi. But that's just me. Oh, it is shorter........by two keystrokes.

(P.S. Just bustin' your *****, you lucky SOB. )

have fun with the Turbo, it's gonna be a long wait, but well worth it.

Congratulation on the inbound Twin Turbo (TT). I know the wait will be terrible, but that's just 4-play. Once you get inside her, it will all be worth it!

We've had this discussion before.

While you might type it out as 997TT I doubt you pronounce it as a "997 Tee Tee". Most people that I know call it a 911 Turbo (official Porsche name, btw). Or a 997 Turbo, to distinguish it from a 996 version or other turbo charged 911.

But the twin qualifier is superfluous since no single turbo 911s were made since, when, the first turbo charged 911 came out?

So it comes across as a snobbish term of usage for chest thumping bragging that the car has two - count 'em - two turbos instead of one.

Besides, if you try looking for the 997TT Forum here, you won't find it.

This is precisely why I want a 997TTT,...the turbo targa. Hey, they did it before, they could do it again.
Yes,...I think that would suit me to a "T."
