I am not disagreeing with you for no reason. I currently use OEM 19s on the street, and OEM 18s on the track. I have gone through a set of 18s on the street as well. My comment regarding the pressure I use for the 19s on the street were for another poster (although the pressures indicated in my 2005 door jamb for 19s is higher than the 33/39 I use).

My 997 track experience is with 18s only, where everybody mentioned recommends running less than 34/44 hot, and I found that they are all correct in terms of optimal grip and wear.

These tires do not act as an-air filled balloon. Their walls are very rigid and do not expand. When under-inflated, centrifugal force pushes the tire thread out and only the center has traction. Under-inflated tires are dangerous and have less grip.
