Vacuum actuated baffle bypasses one of the muffler chambers. Somebody slap me if I'm incorrect, but I think that the PSE uses the standard muffler can with the external vacuum actuated bypass + requisite piping...

I'm no doubt in the minority here, but I don't think I'd add the PSE again when I order another car. I tho't I'd run 'round town with the sound on and the shocks off .... which I have done from time to time. But, I find that I'm not all that interested in the sound.

Yeah, from behind the car it sounds "different" than stock. I'm not sure it is a "better" sound, but it is louder and different. Just opinions. I think it's sorta raspy and harsh. But, again, I'm not standing behind the car as I drive it.

The change in the way the throttle responds is OK, but again .... nothing special to me. And, with our harsh New England tarmac, I'm not fond of the increased sportyness of the shocks with the switch in the 'on' position. Just me.

Soooo .... I use the PSE couple times a week on the way home. Exhaust on, shocks off.
But, I don't use it much .... not sure it's worth the nearly 3k for that option. I'll have to see how I feel in a couple years. Maybe I'll change my mind. Again.

Why don't you separate the PSE from the Sport chrono switch .
That way , you don't have to go into Sport mode to have it on.
I always thought that was a stupid setup by the factory.
They should have added the separate PSE switch just like for cars without Sport chrono.
The good thing is that the way the PSE works is that it's "on" (loud ) when there is no power to the solenoid valve. I wired an on-off switch
for the 12 v power to the solenoid valve and installed the switch in the ashtray.
(Switch open = PSE always on loud , switch closed = everthing per factory )

Rolf .... You are a very clever fellow. Much more so than I. I wish I were more handy with wrenchin' and such.

I have a comparison to give here. I have a '96 C4S with Fabspeed cat back deals that I had installed.

At first ... and to a minimal degree still ... there was some resonance in the cabin at normal drive rpms. Like at 2500 and a bit more. You know ... 50-55 mph in 6th gear.

But, after posting about the PSE, I decided to take the 993 to work today.

Wow !!

I have to say that the Fabspeed deals on the 993 are much nicer to MY ears than the PSE on the 997. I'm sure others will difer, but that said ... the motors are quite similar and the sound from the 993 is just deeper, more muscular (?) and less raspy compared with the PSE of the 997.

Odd, eh ?

Anyone have a similar comparison they own?
