Default Calling all '05 997S Launch cars

Man I love driving this thing. I decided I'm going to shoot for highest mileage launch car.

I'm wondering how many were made and how many are here on RL? Post your number if you have one.

Mine is #242

#299 here. and, yes, i love the thing. it's supposed to be my daily driver (drove my 996 2500 miles per month in the short time i had it), but i've been feeling guilty about driving it so much since this is the first car i've wanted to keep forever. PCCB's are awesome.

nice avatar, btw.

How do you tell a Launch car from another?

I don't know. I believe all were black and had PCCB's, full leather, adaptive sport seats and nav. I would guess build dates in '04. Not sure how many other options were common across this first batch. Perhaps the range of VIN's could give a clue.

Sometimes they will put "launch vehicle" somewhere on the original window sticker too.

Yep. First C4S I looked at was a "launch car" and had the 762 code on the window sticker...

All 997S Launch Cars were black/black and configured as follows:
Black Full Leather
Floor Mats (black)
Sport Power Seats if Tiptronic
Adaptive Power Seats if 6 Speed
Self Dimming Mirrors
Heated Front Seats
Ceramic Composite Brakes
Sport Chrono Package
Navigration for PCM
Bose High End Sound Package

MSRP was approximately $101,700

Of course they were all mid 2004 builds. VIN's were in the 200 to 400 range I believe.

I have #337.

I have #167, bought it on launch day 8/28/04. Will have 30,000 miles on it by Sunday. The above option list is correct. The MSRP on the S launch cars was $99,300 (6 speed). They forgot to charge $125 for the floor mats! I still love it.

Mine is #398. 8,800 miles. I love mine as well, and miss it already. The PCCB's are probably my single favorite thing about the car. Best brakes I've ever had.

I don't think your 997S is in fact one of the 2005 997S 'Launch Cars'.

Launch cars didn't have multifunction steering wheels, CD changers, rear window wipers, instrument surround in leather, Porsche crest in headrest, etc. etc. Thats why your MSRP is higher than $101K.

Your VIN also appears to be out of the range but close to the last built Launch Car configuration.

What is the going rate for one of these babies with say 10,000 miles in nice condition?
