Default Improvements in 997 Since MY 2005

As I negotiate a deal on a new '07 Cpe, I thought I would ask what improvements/changes have been made since MY 2005.

As I seem to remember, you have:

1) mod to sunroof to prevent cabin humming;

2) smart passenger seat (auto airbag deactivation based on weight)

3) Improvements to Nav system, and ability of PCM in-dash CD player to play MP3 files.

Any other changes, or comments to the above?

Is TPMS now standard on '07? The one I'm looking at is a June '07 build.

Thanks,

YoungTurk

Did these changes occur in '06 or '07?

If some occured in each year, please list the year.

Also, what is TPMS?

My comment is directed at your number 2 item regarding the "smart seat". I just spoke with a sales guy that claimed he's been selling Porsches for over 20 years and hasn't ever heard of the dealer installed key switch to deactivate the passenger airbag. Well, I almost bought it for my 997s (05). Am I losing my mind or is this true??

Doors sound much better when closing. At least on my TT.

Just keep in mind that you could have an '08 if you wait another couple of months.

I thought so. Maybe the sales man meant he's been selling Porsches for 20 minutes!

I agree - must be the aluminum TT doors. Carrera has steel doors.

Any humming noise in cabin when sunroof open in '07? Is it true that the sunroof was re-designed in '06?

Only the deflector was was redesigned. The sunroof itself is the same. It fixed the low frequency oscillating drone on the 05s.

Do you think I could order this as a replacement part? I just got a "new to me" 05 C2S and I get rather annoying with that oscillation.

Can anyone answer this? I am also pondering an 05 and am concerned about the sunroof and nav changes - if they are not retrofitable I probably won't consider it. Also, the MP3 capabilities came in during that year production I thought, May or something..

It is all so confusing and now I am even reconsidering the tan interior even though I initially was against it it somehow seemed better in person - I think the Porsche fever has me dazed, perhaps I should take a break from perusing these forums before I find myself pulling the trigger spending more then I should - as it is we still need to sell the A3 to make room
