the dealer can't program the alarm to chirp, thats the main reason i want the Remote Key, the other features are just a bonus
the cayman club does indeed have a group buy ongoing, current discount is 15%, enter the coupon code "ccgb" at checkout to get it, a couple more Remote Keys/Smart Tops get sold and we'll be at 20% discount
I wish I'd discovered this thread earlier. I just purchased a remoteTOP 996 directly from mods4cars and paid full retail. Oh well. No biggie. Anyway, I figured I'd provide some feedback. I realize you guys are buying the module for 997, but hopefully my feedback will be interesting to you nonetheless...
Installation and configuration was super easy, and I am not mechanically inclined. The module works like a charm. I love it and I highly recommend it. Who wouldn't want to be able to roll the windows up or down with one touch of the remote?
If I run into any problems, I'll post up again. But it seems like it's all good.
If you buy one and plan to install it yourself, make sure you have an E-12 Torx socket. They're not the easiest things to find. mods4cars can include one with your purchase for an additional charge. I found mine locally after calling four hardware stores and three auto parts stores. Bottom line, it sucks to have the module in hand with no way to get your seat out. Be prepared.
