Cupholder removal

Cupholder removal
Anyone tried to get the cupholder assembly out of its slot above the glovebox ?
I'm investigating adapting the unit by removing the passenger side cupholder
and reworking the driver's side one to hold an iPod, which will retract behind the cupholder cover panel when not in use. Don't want to start hacking
things about until I'm sure I can replace the whole assembly to get the car back
to original spec.

Open glove box, Remove 2 long screws underneath and pull out! Easy as pie!!!
