Default How to spot a replica from an OEM Sports Design Wheel?

I was wondering. How can I spot a replica from an OEM Sports Design wheel when purchasing used? Also what are the offsets on a Sports Design for a 997C2?

thanks

Gee..., I just assumed when you see a Porsche wheel at a retailer like Wheel Enhancement it _IS_ a Porsche wheel manufactured by the same outfit which supplies Porsche. Therefore, for 996 and 997 at least, if it looks like a Porsche wheel it _IS_ a porsche wheel. Is this correct? Hummm... .

et 57 front and et 67 rear are the offsets for the 997 C2. I've never seen a replica but I do know that the Porsche wheels have the width and offset number stamped on the rim on either side of the valve stem.

If you ever look on ebay there are replicas boasting 'made in Italy' The ones I have seen however tend not to 'claim' to be OEM, however not sure whether there are any other tell tale signs. As with a lot of things, there are lots of fakes out there!

Actually wheelehancement does sell both OEM and replica wheels, but they do tell you what you are getting.. however, I buy a used wheel from a private party or an outfitt that is not as well known then i would like to be able to verify that the other party is honest and knows what they are selling...

MOST of today's Porsche 997 wheels are by BBS. Take a look on the back of each wheel to see the Porsche logo (sort of a triangle with a stretched P in it). Only those are Porsche OEM, no matter what you hear.

+1. Furthermore, they will be stamped with a Porsche part number, BBS and/or Made in Germany whereas the replicas would not.

Are the 'replicas' that Wheel Enhancements sell of inferior quality, or equal? They (Wheel Enhancements) say that the replicas are made to the same specs as OEM and Wheel Enhancements is reputable. Any opinions?
