996 Turbo wheels should be the right offset.

There's a write-up in Excellence Magazine discussing the 997S and how the 18's feel better on the car. It was a brief mention, but it was matter of fact.

I have 18" Carrera III wheels (3 months old) on my '07 C2 Cab. I 'll trade them for your 19" Sport Design if you 're interested?

Thanks for the offer. I will let you know if I decide to do the swap in a few days.

Sorry for the late response, but I am following up on this thread as I too am considering a switch to 18" wheels for my 2005 997S Cab.

Besides offset, will 996 turbo wheels take the 295/35/18 and 235/40/18 rear and front tires needed to match the stock 295/30/19 and 235/35/19 for a 997S? Are 996 turbo rim widths the same as the 19" sport design wheels on my 997S?

Default made the 18 switch

I am not sure about the 996 wheels, but I made the switch to 18"s
and I am glad I did, the ride improvementng is huge and the handling is great
Still trying to get the tire pressures set up correctly as the TPMS is driving me crazy. It reads 3psi low all around and I am getting warnings at my preffered
pressure - 35/40

I am wondering...besides the PASM ( basically switchable and continusly adjustable shocks) does Porsche use different springs or other suspension components for the 911 or 911S or for cars with 18 inch vs. 19inch wheels from the factory? The reason I ask is the differnt weight for the different wheel & tire combinations might affect handling for each suspension set up with a wheel & tire switch?

make sure you're not driving in the "sport setting" with the shocks in the firm mode. I found that the S has a more compliant ride than the standard coupe both with 19" wheels. If you drive in NYC, 18" wheels won't give you any improvement. Most of the roads are aweful with holes and uneven pavement.

Good question. I'd like to know if there is a ride quality difference or suspension difference between a Carerra and Carerra S, both equipped with PASM and 19" wheels.

Anyone know??

Walter Rohl likes the 18 better than the 19. He also liked the -20mm row MO30 sport suspension instead of the PASM along with the 18 inch wheels on the 997

Is this because of the PASM? In other words, is the suspension on the C2 stiffer than the S (in non sport mode), because it can't be stiffened whereas the PASM on the S gives you the best of both worlds; a softer ride for everyday driving and an extra stiff suspension for aggressive driving?

Remember it's a Porsche not an SL500. I would buy the S and enjoy the car but no matter which model or configuration you won't get a cushy ride.
