Question Is PCCB no longer an option??!!

Just looking through Porsche's online builder...and I don't see the upgraded brakes anywhere as an option?

Nope, that option is not listed. Not even on the Turbo.

Oh man that would suck if those are no longer available.

Most track guys I know favor the steel brakes anyway (as I do). PFC is past due on their 2-piece floating rotors, which will be great with PFC 97s on a 997s. Even my oem brakes with Pagid Oranges stood up to 7 hours in Black at The Glen in 2 days last month (30 minutes on, 30 off) and 8 hours in 2 days this month (4 hours in Black, 4 in Green / Yellow by my son). The only brake mod I have is SRF fluid, hybrid pads (will try Yellow or 97s next) and GT3 ducts ($40 delivered - what a deal).

The lack of availability isn't because Porsche is phasing out PCCBs; it's because there's a shortage of PCCB-related materials. This claim is well-documented on the 7GT3 board here.

Ron: from where did you get GT3 ducts for $40 shipped? Suncoast told me like $170 for the parts.

Those are the ones. These are 997 GT3 ducts, where the others we've all seen are 996 and are not a direct snap-on as I found out (sent back for full refund). These $30 plus shipping units are direct snap on -- took about 3 minutes for each.

I just finished the Porsche Driving Experienc in Birmingham, was fun. Instructors told us that they prefer the pccb, and that they typically last about 10x as long as the steel brakes. They are of course at least 10x as expensive to replace... We got the Carrera's up fairly fast, not as quick as the instructors, but as fast as I'd take my 'own' car, and the brake feel didn't translate to better performance at that speed... but I do like their COLOR...

I've had both and personally would not have another car without PCCB. The cost variance may not actaully be justified in a per dollar performance upgrade, but in my own opinion they are far superior than regular brakes. JMO of course.

It's like that scene in Ronin where DiNero is talking about what gun he likes and he says something like "It's just a tool..." meaning I use whatever presents itself. I think PCCB vs. Steel is pretty much the same. I have steel and think they are just fine the way they are. 15 hours of track time in 4 days and no fade, no glazing (with the right pads and GT3 cooling ducts), rock solid stops, etc. Might PCCB be even better? Perhaps, but I make due with what I have...

Thanks Ron and surfingbuddhist. I had the 6GT3 ducts and 7GT3 ducts confused; I didn't realize they were different parts. I was looking for a set of 6GT3 ducts for a 6TT; my 7S has PCCB ducts which are deeper than regular 7S ducts, and have been a-ok for my needs.
