I'm with Dan...Horizon Blue is a stunner, and just enough to make you smile each day.

I just saw an Aquamarine Metallic Blue 356 Speedster. Great color. Historic Porsche color that is blue/grey to my eyes. No pic, sorry.

Iris Blue or Labis Blue are nice blues worth considering. Different, but not loud and changes with the light.

The car in question is quite well optioned except for the color.

I thought that since I'm respraying it, I might as well go for something unique.
Well, first of all you're using the wrong terminology. To respray means to touch up a body panel such as the front of the hood that has been peppered with stone chips using the identical paint color, hence the "re-" part of the term. Second of all, you don't want to mislead a body shop into thinking you just want a touchup by saying "respray" as this is what they're likely to think and may, in turn, mislead you into thinking it won't cost much.

What you're actually asking for is a complete change in color which will require gutting out much of the car so that there will be no visible nooks and crannies with the old color. And then you'll have to trust them not to end up with an extra fastener or two after they've put the car back together, which carelessness will later likely resurface in the form of squeaks and rattles.

The other thing to consider is that a repaint will never end up being as tough as a factory paint job, from what I understand. Factory painted body shells are oven cured at higher temperatures than an assembled car can tolerate.

If I were you I would find out how much it would cost to do this elaborate paint process (in the US it might cost 5 grand or more, possibly 10) and then weigh that against the cost of ordering or importing a car with your choice of color.

I think cost probably would not be an issue for him if he is getting a 997s in Singapore.
it's probably around 200k+ usd for a well optioned one?

personally I think Matt black looks great!

Thanks for all the replies.

The matte black 599 looks outstanding - very gangsta - but too bold for me.

Aquamarine is a nice color...very similar to the color on the 997 Porsche Club edition, no? See link below:

Aubergine is a beautiful color:

How about US$200K+ for a barely optioned one with 25K km on the clock - . Welcome to Singapore.

Look forward to your continued thoughts.

My vote is Azzura Santa Barbara. Someone on here posted pics of a Ruf Cayman not long ago done in this color. It is sort of a blueish, silver sort of thing. It may be too conservative for what you're looking to do, but it is very unique and very beautiful. Other than those I think the Gulf Blue or Mexico Blue are both very cool colors. Good luck.
