Why did you buy a 997 C2S instead of a 996 TT?

I am tall and do not fit as well in a 996 or 996TT. When Porsche went to the 997 I now fit perfectly. If I had a choice between a 997S or 997TT I'd probably go the TT route if I had the money. I love the Turbo looks but I also love the GT3 looks too both much better than the stock 997 looks.

Because I wanted the rear-bias feel of a 911. My optioned out C2S ain't that far from a base Turbo, but I didn't really want an AWD car.
Like others here, I too didn't care much for the 996 interior. The styling just didn't do it for me, or I would have bought a 986 or 996 instead of 2 more E46 M3s.

I am alternating between a 997S and a 996TT at the moment, and at times it is hard to pick a favorite.
It boils down to what sort of driving your friend does....
When I am working, I tend to prefer the 996TT for the week day grind.
It is softer, more comfortable, and really quite effortless to chug around in.
Agreed, the interior is not as nice, but the occasional rush of acceleration forgives all.
If I am in a hurry, I actually enjoy ducking and weaving in the 997S.
I tend to use it more as the sharper more focused weekender....
Either way, it is all good

(Recognizing of course a huge price differential between the two cars when bothare new).
So, the two most obvious reasons for buying the C2S are (1) new car vs. old and (2) 997 styling vs. 996. Any other reasons? Or perhaps reasons to buy the turbo? My buddy is trying to decide between the two cars, so I thought this thread may help.
I'd like to see him in a 996 TT, but I figure you 997 guys would have the best arguments to the contrary.

The 996TT has:
1) Turbo lag .
2) Nonlinear throttle response (even after the turbos have spooled up).
3) Most significantly for me, the 996TT sounds like a blender/blowdryer. Have you heard a normally aspirated (NA) flat six with sport exhaust? A big part of a Ferrari's appeal is their sound. A NA 911's is different but just as life affirming .
By the way, here are Road & Track's #s:
996TT: 0-60 4.0s, 0-100 9.2s, 1/4 mile 12.4s @115.6mph
997S: 0-60 3.9s, 0-100 9.6s, 1/4 mile 12.3s @ 114.8mph
Nurburgring Track Times:
996TT 7:56
997S 7:59
When you consider the improved interior, it's a no brainer for me. The turbo's cachet is not enough.

2002 C4S w/PSE + short shifter (Lapis Blue/Metropol Blue)- gone and missed

Hey Johnlee: don't forget that Road & Track's very low 997S 0-60 time (3.9 sec!) involved some wheel hop - what some might label as an abusive launch... not recommended.
OTHO, the factory time is pretty conservative, so... you're absolutely correct - the cars are pretty even performance-wise in the real-world regime (under 100 mph).
Over 100 mph, the Turbo really stands out - but who the Hell can drive that way in the USA?
997 for me... but of course, I've already voted with my $$$. :-)
