Default Here’s my 997 story….

I started out with this 2006 C4 several months ago:

Sold it since I felt nervous driving it places. Mass is full of bad roads and jealous tailgaters. Moving here from Newport Beach a year ago, I was not ready to risk my dream car. In The OC, we respect nice cars.

Missed it, so I bought this 2007 Cayman S:

Loved it! Fun, Fun, Fun.

Then my dealer called me with this Turbo:

Drove it every day, and loved everything about it, except the Tiptronic. Dumped it.

Just bought this 2007 C4S CAB a week ago, and am excited to enjoy the summer with the top down.

Sure, I've lost enough to nearly buy the Cayman S at this point, but it's been fun.

Today I installed the OEM 5mm Wheel Spaces, OEM Colored Crest center caps, OEM clear front side blinkers, and a K&N air filter. Tomorrow the Porsche dealer will be installing the OEM Short Shifter. Then I will be done and able to enjoy the great weather we now have here in Mass.

Great forum. I am glad to be here.

Wow what a turn of events...going from the turbo car to a NA 997 is a massive drop of power and torque (i'm still suffering from that). Hope you enjoy your latest one.

What the heck, enjoy yourself, if you can afford it who cares. There are plenty of ways to waste money, the Porsche indulgence is one of the better ones!

All great choices, did you drive them much or will you qualify as the one that has owned the most 997 variants with the fewest miles covered...

C4 - 600 miles
Cayman S - 700 miles
Turbo - 1400 miles
C4S Cab - I plan to keep this one longer.

Look, Nothing compared to the Turbo, but it makes you dangerous and needs to be in a lawless town to be enjoyed fully. The Turbo has loads of power always ready at your feet, it's insane. I just can't describe it. I do miss it, and should not have gotten a Tiptronic. Frankly after the Turbo I can't tell the difference between my C4 and C4S, but the Cab will be fun this summer.

Just curious

Todd - Sounds like you have 997 Attention Deficit Disorder!
Don't forget about the Targas and GT3s.

Todd - I understand your car-money-losing pain, but I feel your pain worse as a fellow SoCal guy transplanted to the East Coast.

There's a good reason why I sold everyone except the 1st one, the Midnight Blue C4 which I was nervous taking out. If I would have kept that one I would be just a happy and not so poor. However, I have experienced 4 997's and loved the time I had with all of them, especially the Turbo. Now my C4S Cab is done and it will be enjoyed, until my salesman calls me with some new temptation. I hope not.
