Default Clunking Noise Common in 997s

I recently bought an '07 Carrera S Cab and on my second day of bliss , I started hearing a clunking/clanking noise emanating from behind the passenger side rear seat. I hear it mostly when driving slowly over lumpy roads that make the car rock sideways .

I've searched this forum and found numerous complaints of noises very similar to mine. Loose sway bar bolts have been mentioned by a couple of posters as having been the problem. I would appreciate the input of others who have dealt with this (I've learned there are many of you) and what the resolution was before I take mine to the dealer.

We heard about something like this but it was common to the MY05 cars? Can you describe it more and give more examples of when it is at its worse?

Yes thanks. I would think it was a rolling marble hitting the side of the trunk, if there was a trunk in the back. I hear it most behind the passenger side rear seat, but at times I think I hear it behind the driver's side rear seat (not sure). I hear it most when I drive slowly over the cobblestone driveway at the guard gated entry to my neighborhood. This driveway makes the car rock sideways as well as up-down and front-back. I think the side-side rocking motion is most associated with the noise. One poster found his problem was due to the engine lid cover, but I did this drive with the engine cover open and it still made the noise (and I looked like an idiot, I'm sure).

Please someone help me .

I get it from time to time if I steer right and left quickly at slow speeds.

Stumped.

I kept hearing a low frequency "clunk" and other slight noises when traveling at slow speeds (less than 30 mph) shortly after I picked up my new ride (07 CS). I took the service tech for a ride and pointed the noises out to him. He told me he put the car on the rack three times to tighten down some suspension pieces and all noises are now gone. I suspect some things have loosened in shipping.

My 2006 has a clunk at low speed, wheels turned. Sounds like the brakes moving about somehow. ??? Has not increased in 8,000 miles so I ignore it.

Have the same clunk. Sounds like it's a very common problem from other threads I have read. Doesn't bother me enough to get it fixed though. Like the fact that the car has some quirks...

This has been discussed at length, there was an alleged problem with early year models, something to do with sway bar mountings, faulty or fitted incorrectly. I have had a clunk on mine from new and if I had a front engined car I'd be checking to see if the spare wheel was loose in the back but I've had all the suspension mountings checked, twice. The OPC suggested it was the spoiler but I'm not convinced, however, I've learned to live with it and take comfort from the suspension checks so it doesn't bother me anymore

The last three posters have, sadly, basically given up! I've owned over a dozen cars including other high performance cars including two other Porsches, as well as an M3 and an M5, and I have never had a car that had a clunking noise that was normal. My car has been at the dealer for two days now and still no word...

Just picked up my car. They fixed it ! The noise was due to a loose coolant pipe. Go figure. Maybe this will help someone else down the line...

Thanks, in a previous post on another thread some months ago I speculated as to whether it was due to loose pipework, sadly I lacked your tenacity. Next time I'm near my OPC I'll get them to take a look. If you have any specific info that would help locate the loose connection this \would be appreciated. thanks again.
