Default Porsche Raising Prices on August 1

I just read on autoblog that effective August 1st, Porsche will be raising prices across the board, except on the newly released 2008 Cayenne models! The price increase for the Carreras are 1.4% for cabriolets, 1.5% for coupes and whopping 2.3% for the Turbo! Even both Boxster and Cayman S prices increase a bit. I can't post any links yet but if someone goes to autoblog, the article is near the bottom of the first page for today (May 17).

If you've been waiting to get a Porsche (except Cayenne), do it by July 31st, otherwise be ready to pay a higher premium.

So, adjusted for inflation, they are actually getting cheaper!

Default Perhaps it has to do with the current US dollar to Euro Exchange

The US dollar (relative to the Canadian $) is the weakest in a very long time.

Today 1 US Dollar = 1.10028 Canadian Dollar. A four years ago 1 US Dollar = 1.37000

Today 1 US Dollar = 0.73658 Euro, four years ago 1 US Dollar = 0.86371 Euro.

Oh my, adjusting for both inflation and the falling dollar a shiny new Boxster today is maybe the same as a well-equipped Honda Accord back in 1999!

If the rumored/expected facelifted higher powered car is coming in 08 I'd say the price increase will be well worth it...

The dealer I have been working with for some time told me yesterday that he was positive there would be no facelift for the 997 in 2008.

Has there ever been a year that they did NOT raise prices? I mean, is this not like announcing the sun will rise on schedule tomorrow?

On the other subject, I'm am excitedly awaiting the laughfest at all the '08 facelift/power increase crowd.

Just looking at the Turbo prices from 1995, it seems that Porsche is really a bargain, it's has not increased that much considering it was over 12 years ago. The dollar has depreciated considerably since then. How much is an ounce of gold worth these days?

A bargain at $660.80 / troy ounce. Back then I think it was in the upper two hundreds or three hundreds.

Actually, Porsche lowered prices in MY1975. In one other year, too. (Just can't recall that one).

So, it does happen,--but Blue Moons show up more often!

Just heard from a dealer that Porsche will again raise the price by 8% next year. I have a hard time believing this. I think he was just trying to scare those to buy now.
