With water restrictions affecting my wash cycle i have to hurry and get it done before a neighborhood rat turns me in! 1/2 hour with the foam gun and a quick dry ,into the garage to hide and wax and hope the 15 gallons of water i used dries up quick!

Jim, looking at your pic here, you don't look like the gardener, dude, you look like some tuber or corm or some such buried under the garden......after a looooong winter.
Get some wet stuff into yo' mouf quick, Jim.

1 1/2 hours to clean the exterior, trunk, spoiler, and engine compartment (includes dressing for tires and other plastic/rubber). Another 1/2 hour for interior/glass.
I'm the lone guy in our gated community that washes his own cars. We're the do-it-yourself family in the neighborhood... I laugh as some of my neighbors have never set foot in a Home Depot, Lowes, or Costco.
Not to highjack, but how often do you end up washing your car? I'm on a weekly basis even though it gets exercised about 125 miles per week.

Its a DD but I work from home 3 days a week and I have a beater which I also use once in a while. I put on about 140-150 a week and would clean it every week.

30 minutes for the wheels (damn brake dust) and 30 minutes for the car plus drying time.
If you want to be green, pull your car onto your lawn and wash it there. The soap is actually a fertilizer.
I can't speak to whether your snooty neighbors would burn you in effigy or not

If you want to keep it 'green' - you can use one of the 'rinseless' products to wash your car as detailed in my DIY mobile car wash post: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/318623-diy-mobile-car-wash-o-how-to-wash-your-car-in-the-city-long-post.html

It takes me around 2 hours. I use a lef blower to dry but, I 'm pretty **** about getting every seam dry. The brakes need to be dry before they start to rust because they will make the inside of the rim look bad....

RT to the car wash including wash 50 minutes. Wash it myself 50 minutes. Includes 15 minutes of BS with neighbor who can't understand a guy in this neighborhood who washes his own car. I tell him it's too low to fit on the rails at the car wash.
RT to the gym and getting about the same workout 90 minutes.
Once a month I spend 90 minutes including a wax. Twice a year I spend 4 hours including a strip down and wax.
I have done my own yard work and pool maintenance for the last 28 years. I suspect I paid for my car with the savings.

I do the wheels in about 10 minutes first, both inside the rim and out (wheel brush and wheel clearner from Griots makes the job pretty quick and extremely thorough). The body gets washed next with a mit in about 20 minutes. The drying takes about 20 minutes. I go over once quickly with one microfiber towel to get most of the water off, then a second dry microfiber gets all the remianing water off--have to get inside the door jambs, tail pipes, everything. Then, tire dressing and a quick vacuum of the interior takes about 10 minutes. Admiring the finished product for a bit takes about another 10 minutes!
I have never seen anyone wash a car in my neighborhood either. My car wash setup is in my garage with dedicated hot and cold softened water--elininates water spots and nobody ever sees me wash! My wife started hiring out all the yard work several years back, so I needed a new hobby over the weekend!

An hour is about right for a wash and interior Dyson.
There are only two of us on my street that wash our own cars, the other guy has an Audi TT and a Ferrari 328, so we nod and wave when we see each other!
Putting up the shade canopy does attract a certain amount of attention
People have stopped to ask what I'd charge to come down the street and do their car next... I tell them they can't afford my rates!
Mostly I just get very positive comments like 'your cars are the shiniest on the street'.
Duh!
