Default PSE Fix... Dealer applied

Not that its sponsored by Porsche.. but a dealer has indicated that they have found a work around to have PSE "Always On" and pushing the PSE button on your dash will disable it. This is in essence the reverse on how it works.

They have done 1 and they have informed me that it was a little more work but its fully transparent and there is no need to have an extra switch installed.

Cost $500.

So.. have not had it done yet.. but it seems to be available...
Ill update if I decide to get it done

Do a search on PSE. This mod is extremely easy... just disconnecting one wire (two minute process).

Do you have sport Chrono+
A bit high to have one wire interrupted with a switch! So what if you have 2 switches!!

...Yes.. I read the mod to disconnect the cable.. but some prefer not to have to pop the hood up every time they want to change the PSE setting..and some also prefer not to have a secondary switch.. in fact both of these apply to me !

I'm just letting people know it can be done...cleanly and without extra buttons...question of preference..

The one wire approach is for "always on". He is describing a selectable version which defaults to on rather than defaults to off. I think that that is a desirable modification. In fact, it's probably the way Porsche should have had it from the get go - based on their sporty image.

Honestly, why would anyone want to turn their PSE off... mine is on ALL the time.

There are many reasons why one would want it quieted. I can think of 2 right off the bat:

1. when driving through your neighborhood late at night and don't want to wake up the neighbor's dog and set off car alarms.

2. when on a date, lots of women don't appreciate the loud exhaust. They also don't appreciate the PASM sport setting.

You poor suckers who are married don't need to worry about #2 (...or do you?).

Matt, please describe in detail what the dealer did. We don't want to pay $500 for something we can do ourselves!

I don't understand these 2 reasons as the PSE is not that loud.

It is when disconnected. I can't talk over it on the cell phone.

Open the engine bay. On the right side of the engine, near the rear of the engine bay, is a black cable with a dark orange plug. Its impossible to miss. You'll have to press the side of the metal clip on the end of the plug, but then you can just pull it loose. I thought of sealing mine off, but have had it unplugged for about 7000 miles with no problems (no water, dirt or other contaminants).

I did a search, tons of posts and learned about a hose you can pull and plug with a devise that has similar effect but at all rpms. This hose is to the right of the plug. At one time I saw a post with pictures but it's too time consuming to read hundereds of posts on the topic.

That's the black and white one way valve, mentioned way back. I believe Suncoast and other dealers have them!
