Not so - minor modification of the existing S lid and the X51 rubber gasket is all it takes...

My EVO came with a "dry" cone filter-on car apx. 18 months-no issues.

My dealer has done a few conversions as have others like Brandywine. I suppose you could either throw away the OEM lid or cut a hole in it, paint it so it doesn't rust, and gasket it with the X51 rubber piece...
