anyone know if a ticket for not having one is of the "fix-it" variety? that is, it won't show up on my record. just don't want any reason for my insurance premium to go up. TIA.

I was told by the guys at Danbury Porsche that it is not a moving violation, and the fine gets waived if you show proof that the front plate has been installed. I live in NY, and have not installed the front plate. I'll take my chances.

Got a ticket in NJ by my local Police, $54, No moving violation! No points etc. Just a fine to fill the coffers.
It took a year with no plate, My towhook was in the trunk, he didn't let me put it on first!!!!

I'm amazed at the number of Porsches and other cars, frankly, that run around California without the front plates. I just don't get hung up on the whole appearance thing.

thanks guys. i'll try to find the actual statute. if i do, i'll post it.
edgy1, it's not so much the apperance (although i do like the clean lines), it has more to do with the front plate possibly interfering with some stealth electronic goodies up front.

I actually thought about putting the plate on (drilling) to give a target for laser!
I might try using towhook mount with laser interceptor when available!, First!
I worry about towhook mount in a fender bender because of direct link to frame with no crush zone!

No front plate on my C2S as you can see.
The only way they will inforce it is if you were pulled over for another infraction, then they can wack you with the "missing plate:.
No cop or trooper will pull you over for missing front plate. That's unless they have something against Porsche owners. It's not worth it in reality. They have better things to worry about.
However, someone low on his ticket generation will look for a good victim. Mostly, they'll bother the rice'd out cars first.
Drive and enjoy.
Regards,
Deanski

I drive through Lawrenceville all the time, too bad I have this to worry about now. I agree, Princeton cops love to nab you for speeding. They seem to target speeding moms, my wife was one ticket away from suspension! I am a Larry too.
