how to transport a mtn bike in a cab?

I remember seeing a 996 Cab in Napa a couple of years ago with a trailer hitch and bike rack attached. Ugly as sin but it worked because the guy had his top down and a bike on the hitch.

There is no simple system for that. At one time I think that they claimed that their roof mounts fit their hardtops but the hardtops today still have no attachment point for something like a bike rack. The alu. roofs are not designed to handle that sort of weight. If you deparately have to handle a mtn bike in a cabriolet this is what I would do:
(1) Take off the front wheel, maybe the pedals, too, and then wrap the whole mess into a large thickly padded furniture pad (quilted) and place it in the rear section of the car when the top is down.
(2) But another vehicle for bikes (that's what I do).
