Default painted center console questions

I am looking at the painted center console and also inquiring about painting the PCM surround. I have a few questions. What is the price for these options? How do they wear? I was thinking of getting black and would hate to see it all scratched up in a matter of months. Will porsche do it if it is different than my exterior color? Thanks for the help.

also curious about long-term wear (eg, scratches) on painted items. btw, as you may already know, porsche does pcm surrounds in leather, which looks pretty cool imho. dunno if that's an after-factory option, but ever consider that route?

I have. I thought about doing the pcm and rear center console in deviating black leather with a black/terracotta interior with deviating black carpets. I saw a photo of the black painted PCM and rear center console and it looked really nice.

I suspect with the right interior a black painted center console would be fine--for awhile. Unfortunately, it's a high impact spot, with the ends of zippers on leather jackets, and other things that wind up in that area of a car. I went with leather to avoid that sort of thing. I think leather takes the shocks better. Of course with paint, you can always repaint it.

If you already have the car and want to get them painted, contact Eric at BumperPlugs.com. His work is AWESOME.

No scratches on the center console - I really LUV it being painted!

Eric at Bumper Plugs can help out those that already have their cars and did not get this option.

We have the console on our order page, under painted trim section. PCM cannot be done. It, unlike the 996 version, is a separate head unit, and NOT an overlay.

I think I'm going to end up leasing - which means I have to go through Porsche for the option, correct?

If you are going to order the car and want a painted rear center console, then YES, you might as well order it from the factory.

However, if you lease a car from off the lot that dosen't already have the painted rear center console, then contact Eric. He'll take care of you!

I don't think scratching is going to be a problem. My guess is "paint" is just a word they use for the stuff they use which is tough modern purpose-built coating.
