For a non-DIY guy (me) this was a snap (literally) to do on my 996. Takes 2 minutes per side! Very simple. I paid $30 for the pair at Brandywine.

So you just snapped them in pieces to remove?

My clear side markers were pre installed when I bought at the dealer. However, they have amber bulbs in the, and it doesnt look too nice. What bulbs have you guys replaced with? Where can I buy the bulbs that would fit?

By law they need to light up amber in color. Don't know of any clear bulbs that light up amber.

I was going to order a pair but I hear they cause excessive oil consumption and can lead to premature wear on the rear main seal.

I replaced mine myself and it is very easy.
Also bought the clear bulb that looks silver when off and amber when on from ebay:

Works well.

You guys are too funny lol. I has replaced the markers on the Cayenne myself, so when I installed them I also swaped out the bulbs for these nice xenon looking bulbs, which complimented the headlights very well. I just dont remember at all where I bought the bulbs.

I know it may be illegal, but I've never heard of anyone getting tickets for clear side markers.

You can buy these bulbs at http://www.hoen-usa.com. They also have an appearance kit that takes care of the high beams, fog lights and sidemarkers for $54.00.

I'm planning on ordering the xeonmatch bulbs for the foglights and the license plate. I've seen the xeonmatch for the license plate on a few Lexus cars and they're eyecatching.

Looks like KW_1055 above posted this type as well.

I really don't know what type of bulbs are in my markers. I can't really tell if they're the silver type as these or the amber type, since I really don't notice any hint of amber color when I look at them. Hmmm.

You do NOT need to buy bulbs. If you want the full clear look, use the clear bulbs inside the amber lenses. Just pop them out and swap with the bulbs that are in the clear sides, for a full clear/clear look.

Eric, I think that's illegal here. You need amber lights. The clear bulb inside the amber lenses is only a "white" light.

I never said a word about legality.

But for those seeking clear/clear, that's how it is easily achieved.

Unless they want us to paint them clear.
