Default CD Burning

I was able to burn an "Audio CD" via Windows and can play in the PCM CD slot.
This format limits the # of songs you can get on - like a std CD (up to 20 or so).

I tried burning a "Data CD" via Windows.
I have WMA and MP3 files but doesn't play in the car.
I can see all the files when I load the disk in my PC.

Do Data CDs not work or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

you need to burn as mp3, they should play unless you have an older PCM. Maybe you need a software update !What year car do you have?

I've been trying to get Windows WMA files to play. I even had the dealer upgrade to newer PCM software for me. Still won't play. I read that both WMA and MP3 files are supposed to play, but not on early units. I thought my upgrade would take care of that. Maybe its the WMA that won't play. Anyone know how I can get free MP3 software?

My 06 plays mp3's no problem. I can get up to 10 "albums" on one CD, each one in it's own folder. Better imho than having a changer. I've not tried WMA's. I burn the mp3 cd using Nero software on a PC.

hmmm.
My car is a 2006 so PCM should be ok/compatible w/ MP3 and WMA.

I'm burning using Windows Media Player 9 and selecting "Data CD" doesn't work.
When I select "Audio CD" it works but 20 songs or less.

Is anyone having success using Windows Media Player or do I need to download/buy another application for ripping?

OK---I figured it out.
I tried the same disk on our Prius (yes, that's our other car...) and it played fine.

Then realized the disk has a scratch in one part and after forcing it a few times to read on the 997 - it got it....woo hoo 120 songs on 1 disk. and it's not full.... :-)

Does anyone know how to create a MP3 playlist on iTunes with multiple sub-folders?
