Default The transformation of my garage

This is an old picture of my garage from about a year and a half ago, before I decided to paint the walls and lay down the tile.

...And I just finished the last of the BigFoot tile that I've been laying down over the past few nights.

It really is an easy way to dress your garage up, especially if your concrete looks like crap like mine. All I did for prep was sweep it out and start in the one clean corner. It's easy to lay down and only requires a hammer (or very strong thumbs) to push in each interlocking piece.

I went with the rubber BigFoot Tile and it was easy to cut (I used kitchen scissors - I do not recommend this; my hands are blistered and in pain). My only complaint is that you have to leave about a half-inch at the corners (As you can see in the pic) to allow for expansion and contraction.

Overall, not a bad way to spend $542.

Nice, but where did the Porsche crest on the wall go?

Very nice! I know this is after the fact but what you could of done was pop off the molding at the bottom of the wall, went 1/2 inch from the wall, bring up the molding off the floor so it was just above the new tile, would of hidden the gap. (I don't even understand what I just wrote )

It certainly hides the messed up contrete, which I have in my garage!

It's now off to the left, behind the hose that is hanging on the wall.

I may address the visible gap in the future with a baseboard of some sort but that wouldn't have been a bad idea either.

looks nice. i did the same with racedeck tiles, only i did larger squares. after a few months of listening to the platic tiles make hollow clickety clack sounds, i installed some pergo underlayment beneath it. that really deadened the sound.

How does this work if you have cracks in the cement or if it's not exactly level?

I'd imagine the interlocking pieces would be harder to connect if imperfections keep them from laying completely flat.

Yep, inexpensive baseboard and liquid nail would do a wonderful job.

Default Great job

Thanks for the photo's, I want to do something like that with my new garage in June.

DrDrilZ, is that underlay normal carpet underlay, or is it special stuff for the Race Deck tiles?

Delaware allows us to still use the vintage tags.

It gets a lot of compliments, especially out of state. I was once pulled over (In a previous car but with the same tag) in Washington DC and the cop argued with me that my tag wasn't legal.
