Question 997 Facelift… My sales pointed to a 06 and a 08 Cayenne...

Yesterday I was in my dealer talking to my salesperson about the 997 facelift. I know, I know… but he gave me a very good point to this old question…

He pointed to a 06’ Cayenne and a 08’ Cayenne, and said, “See? No 07’!”

It just hit my mind that, Porsche skipped the 07’ Cayenne and rolled out 08’ model around now (March/April 2007).

I never thought about that what if Porsche would do the same to 997 -- just skip the 08’ model, and roll it out at early 2008 as a 09’ model? Hmmm... no wonder there are so many conflicting news about whether the 997 facelift will be in 08' or 09'...

What do you think?

With best regards,
- Alex.

Porsche has skipped a year with the turbo cars but from I can remember not with the NA 911's...08 could be a short MY however.

How long ago did they work at the Chevy store? Turbos, yes. Cayenne- yes. 911's? Nope. They're not skipping a year. But like 500 said, it 'might' be a short year. Lord knows the allocations are already drying up, and it's only MARCH!

Why do we care about this? Buy what you want/need today. Waiting for cars like this discussion is silly. If you like some other model better down the road, sell it, buy another one.

Not going to happen with the Carreras. Most of us realize that you will always be off a model on a Porsche,--they change so much now. Don't give it a second thought. What if you delay to buy the MY09 Carrera S with the DFI and diode lights? But you miss the next big change like the paddle shifters? Just buy it to drive it and remember that the 997 will eventually become the next classic.

Another reason the Cayenne skipped a model year was that sales had dropped significantly and inventory was building up. Not so with the 997. There will be a 2008 997, however briefly.
