Cab owners,
The convertible latch plastic cover fell off today all by itself while parked in the lot at my office. It appears that the plastic "hooks" that holds it in place broke off. I found the little pieces on the floor on the passenger's side. I've never messed with it or tried to open it, so I'm not sure how this happened. Anyone else have this problem or know how much it costs to replace?
Thanks,
Jimmy

That cover should never be touched by a cabriolet owner, even if you have the hardtop. It is fixed to the top of the softop and contains the mechanism that extracts the clamp that clutches the top of the windshield surround when locking the cabriolet top in the up position. Definitely go to your dealer and complain. This is absolutely not the norm. If you have a hardtop there is another piece that is a sort of trim piece that goes on and off after you manually secure it, but that's not the part you describe.

The latch cover on my Cab fell off over the weekend while raising the top. Same as OP. Looks like the plastic hooks broke off. Any idea what the Part # is or how much this part costs? I assume that it is a "snap in" DIY replacement?
Thanks.
Thanks.

The very first time I put down my top this cover fell off !! I think what happens is that the sales people in an effort to show off the car pull this cover off and it NEVER goes back on the same.
It is inexpensive to replace, and I would suggest that you do, I think mine cost a total of $23.00. After I replaced mine it has never come off or been loose again.
