Question Erratic Window Behavior

During auto-up the psngr. window goes all the way up then goes down about 1/3 of the way, I tried re-setting the window which clears it up for a few days then it malfunctions again. Had this issue of a few 00-03 MB's and I'm kind of surprised it's still an issue these days. Anyone here have this issue addressed? Is a new regulator the only real cure or can it be corrected via the laptop at the dealership?

I had the same issue for a long time, though now passenger window is working as it should. Never tried to get it diagnosed - dealer trip more trouble than living with it!

I have heard that high friction between the window and window seals can cause this behavior. It is hard to get at the seals to clean them, but you might try to give the window itself a thorough cleaning inside and out to get any invisible film off that might be binding things up.

Does the window error appear on your center display as a malfunction? If so could you let me know exactly what it says. I have a diagnostic tool. I might be able to work backwords with it.

10 minutes after taking delivery, my windows went haywire. I'd try to close them, they'd hit the top, come down, go up, over and over again. Then I'd try to drop them all the way and put them up again - and they'd stay down. Really not a great 1st day with the car...

Somehow, it reset itself and when I took it in on Monday (Saturday delivery), it was working fine and gave no fault codes. Never did figure out what it was all about.

I had two Mercedes Benz's that did that. It was a software problem and in my former CL 500, it could not be fixed. The left rear window in my Cab. does the same thing. When you lower the top it goes up and goes halfway down. You have to kind of jack it up to close it completely. A German Thing?

I wrote it off as pinch feature. Hasn't happened in many months. On mine the huper optik drei tint is pretty thick, causes pinch control safety feature to manifest this. Tint plus dirt = friction.
