Default PA/NJ Spring Fling?

We're organizing a drive for mid-April to blow of the winter dust for the cars and open up the driving season... all are welcome!

Great! Glad to have you along. Make sure that you keep tabs on the thread posted above, as I'll be sure to post all updates there. I'mm actually in the process now of trying to pull together a route.... checking out the merits of the area NW of Allentown, vs. the area SW of Easton and close to the NJ border.

Try to find a Dukin Doughnuts or something similar. I have to agree that a sit down breakfast would be too much with a lot of people. I'll have to check my calendar when you have a date. If I'm open I'll drive from CT to join. I can then take long way back home and visit my relatives in South Jersey where I grew up.

Right now it's looking like Lamberville NJ might be the most logical place to start - it will give us fast access to queit roads and is accessible to those coming in from out of the area. I'll scout out the area to find parking and access to something like Dunkin Donuts - nice idea!

Default Lambertville area...

is just plain beautiful in the spring. It is filled with great rides. There's a thin and twisty road on the Jersey side that runs along the river. I drove it once coming back from Basking Ridge (pre P-car). It was a great wrong turn! Quite a treat, but it's been a few years. I'm gonna have to check it out when the salt gets off these roads.

About a month ago, to get some miles on my car so I could get past the damn break in (I'm at 1250 currently), I took a ride up to New Hope (next to Lambertville on the PA side). What a treat. The journey to get there through Bucks County has some nice driving.

There's a great road that runs up the PA side along the Delaware north of New Hope. I did that one about a year or so ago. Great homes, great scenery along the water. Come to think of it, I gotta get back there now that I have the P-car to enjoy it in! Pre P-car it was just to visit friends or get to somewhere. Now it's about the drive!

There's also a town in Jersey called Mendham, that is a hoot to get to from Lambertville. I've done it twice, both times to get to a dinner party at a friends home. Wonderful estate lined, wooded and twisty roller coaster-ish roads.

Hope this helps.

Cool, thanks for the tips. River Road on the PA side is one of my favorite high speed drives - unfortunately, the flooding last year killed the road in several places. I'm not sure if it has re-opened yet. It was not a lot of fun trying to get out of that mess when I went down there last.

Right now we're looking at three lots in Lambertville.

1) The Delaware canal state park:

2) Another at the corner of George and Bridge Street
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...t=h&iwloc=addr

and 3) The Lamberville Inn and a lot behind it:

We'll check out each one to see the best fit and if none of them work, then we'll do Washington Crossing as was suggested... all depends on whether the lots charge for parking and are busy first thing on a Sunday morning.

The park is a good bet, I suggested that as well, but that bridge right there across the river makes my heart stop every time I drive over it - especially when there is some huge 4x4 coming the other way...it's just soooooo narrow

I figure that if we can meet in Lambertville, go north on the NJ side, then cross into PA at one of the bridges that is quieter.
