Unplug anything attached to the intake, not sure what's there on the 3.6, on the "S" there is a switch resonator that gets unplugged.

Unclip the tandem pump vacuum line from the air cleaner housing.
Note - the rubber sleeves for securing the air cleaner housing
Disconnect plug connection on the hot film mass air flow meter . Press together the locking lever on the plug and pull the plug off the flange. Unclip the connection lead at the clips

Undo the threaded sleeve for the rubber moulding of the air cleaner housing from the throttle body
Unclip the oil filling pipe from the air cleaner housing, pulls straight up and then lift the air cleaner housing out of the fastening lug , extension ratchet, I think 13 metric.
Unclip the switch−over valve for the switch resonator from the housing bracket Detach the vacuum line from the housing 2 and disconnect from the resonator.

Lift the air cleaner housing completely out of the engine compartment.

Then remove the 8 screws holding the housing together

All you need is a Torx T-20 screwdriver.
Disconnect MAF sensor wiring plug and pull the box straight up and out.
Also, there is a clip in back of the air intake snorkel , holding a pipe (at least on the 997 S )

Then unscrew about 7 ( I think ) screws , open the box and exchange the filter .

PS: The box has two pins below it which fit into holes in the chassis. There are (2) rubber grommets
which go into the holes . They tend to come out when removing the box, so make sure they
are back in place before putting the box back in.

From my experience, if you're careful you don't have to unplug the MAF or the resonator switch. After you remove the intake hose, just unclip the thingy behind the snorkle, lift the box a little and GENTLY rotate it away from you. Let it rest on the area it was removed from while you work on the torx screws. Just be careful that you don't lean the box on the maf plug. Good luck!

Hi,
Here is the instructions. Suggest you replace the pollen
filter at the same time as the air filter.
