I have both for my Silver C2S and prefered the Colour Caps
I found that it added a little bit of colour to the car.
I did however change the wheels to a polished HRE 545R with no colour at all

I like the black on the silver cars and I have never liked the gold/silver combination on cars or otherwise. I am contemplating replacing the gold crest on the hood with a silver one.

......not the best view, but I don't think the color has enough punch to add anything. Oddly ..they seem to look better on the Seal Boxster?!
Mason: There's two little holes in each cap. Hook an Allen wrench in one hold and pull. Suspect you'd find them all over Ebay and the dealers. ('01 Box and '05 997 crossover)

on a silver car i think the silver/platinum hood crest is a must.then if you wanna match you can get the silver/painted center caps. i remember the 996 guys were handpainting the regular silver crests to get rid of the gold. i think ralph boothe might still sell them too

i think i do prefer my wheels with the black outlined crests. there is something about the gold colored badge on the hood that makes me want to leave it as such (childhood rememberances?). i did have a silver painted one on my 99 996 which i liked less over time but arguably was not a silver car. not sure i want the added expense for silver painted center caps and hood badge at this juncture either......will try and look for some pics first.
thank you all for the comments and replies

There used to be a site sponsor link in the mall that featured the colored crests. Does anyone know or remember who that was/is? I bought from them years ago and have not been able to locate them again. Thanks for your help.

I have black outlined crests on my Lobster Fork winter wheels; colored crests on my summer Sport Designs...
I think I like the black outlines best on a silver car. Just me. But then, I like the 5-spokes better than the Sport Designs, too.

Color, for me.
I'm starting to develop an aversion against the whole black/gray thing going on these days. I'm sure many of you have noticed that the latest "trailer-trash" thing going on these days appears to be painting your car gray/silver and putting in all-black tail lights (they glow red when on). For now, the black shield reminds me of that look.
