It was a Pro Laser III that hit you since that is what they use on the Hwy's in CT. That is the easiest laser gun to jam. I just did some testing against a K40 laser defuser and it was easy pickin's with the laser atlanta and the LTi 20/20 LR. The Lidetek that you have on your ride is the one that saved you since its alot better then the K40.

nice to hear diffusers actually work. although it's good to have the latest equipment, knowing where the cops hide is the best strategy. where on 84? i'd bet around exit 17 e/b. if not, then by waterbury before Rt 8 e/b? i commute on 84 everyday and while i see a lot of places where cops could hide, i always seem them there. (knock on wood)

On the Merritt, where are the speed traps? i often see them around Exit 48 n/b. i once saw a particularly nasty one going s/b probably in the low 50's where there were 2 parked on the shoulder of the road right after a crest-- so you would never see them. haven't seen that since.

any other places you've seen them?

awilks, any issues with not having a front license plate in CT?

You want sneeky? On the Merrit, one State Trooper was inside one of those highway maintenance pickups, those orange DOT ones. Well, he had the laser gun and would radio which car to pull over. Right past the exits for Rt25 nb by the overpasses, several State Trooper cars were hiding there to give chase and support in ticket write-ups. One Trooper would stand out, point to you to pull over. If you didn't, one would make you as it gives chase.

That was a banner day for them. Very very sneeky!

that's beyond sneaky, that's downright vicious. next time i look over, he'll be in my passenger seat doin' one of these

yea, on the Merritt, looks like exits high 40's, low 50's.

pls keep these sightings coming!

Since then, I haven't seen this speed trap again, but it sure was sneaky! You tooling along, get close the the exits for Rt25 NB going N or S and before the overpasses, there was that orange P/U truck. Just past the overpasses were all the trooper cars hiding. A few out on foot to point and direct you to pull over and await your fate.

I95 they seem to be on the enterance ramps. On Rt7 ext in Norwalk, they are always up on top of that hill for Exit-2. I-84 between Rt8, or while on Rt8, they hide on the hills prior to Waterbury.

Always make sure your detector is operating in these areas!!!

just drove the merritt this am and was on the lookout for dot trucks! small amendment: on the merritt n/b, i would say low 40's (new canaan, etc) through high 40's.

also n/b, there's a particularly vicious one i believe right on exit 34. preceding the exit is a long left-handed sweeper that crests over a hill, and right on the exit shoulder sometimes waits a cop outside his car with a laser gun in hand. you won't see the cop until after you crest the hill. good locale.

The Merritt is full of good hiding spots. It's how you can see where they may have been (tire tracks) is a good measure that they WILL be back.

Rt-7 extention is always peppered with Troopers.

Going through Darien, from Stamford to Norwalk, one was sitting in a small roadway with laser in hand in the car. K-40 went off, no problem there!

Near the end of the month, expect to see many more as they attempt to meet quotas.
