But if you drove faster then that buck would have jumped out behind you.

One. Coming back from work, not thinking. Had my tech inspection for a track event that day. Was going way too fast on a secondary road. Got a ticket, got it reduced. Paid the fine. I pay more attention now.

0...look farther ahead and check rear view every 8 seconds as per driver training twenty years ago.

exactly...written up for 80 in a 65 on the N.Y Thruway. I was 4th in a line of cars doing beyween 80 and 85 in the left lane (about average for that section) and got clocked with a laser at night from the median. My V1 went off just in time to inform me that I was in trouble. Hired a local lawyer and got it knocked down to a non-moving violation - N.Y. gets their cash and everyone is happy. It's all about the revenue.

Non-Moving Violation? License Plate? Quick and easy court appearance? W/ V-1 still pulled you over? Bummer...

Bummer indeed. My lawyer made the court appearance - not me - I just had to notarize some paperwork and mail it to him. I can't blame the V1 since the chance of picking up laser scatter is not that great especially if John Q. Law is selectively cherry picking. Once you are hit, you are dead unless you have a jammer (now on shopping list). I just can't believe his aim at night.

0, but heck I can drive 170MPH legally any day of the week here in Germany. Just keep it slow around town with the blitz cameras.

Prior to getting an RD I had two speeding tickets that I could surely have avoided with it.

This was one of the big reasons I did a European delivery on this car. Once you have the opportunity to drive without limits you may be able to deal with avoiding the temptation. Perhaps late for this car, but consider it for your next Porsche. Once I got to do about 180 on the autobahns without having that fear factor I settled down and don't feel like I have to prove anything to myself or anyone else by speeding in America. If you are interested in a trek to Germany, it's not that expensive to have your car shipped over for the summer. Enjoy it there, and then have it returned. It's not as outrageous as one might think. It will more than offset your possibly higher insurance rates and ticket outlay.
