I guess part of it for me is the piece of mind that if anything ever happened to the battery and or computer system that I might be protected somewhat because I was using a Porsche part.

That too me is worth the extra little bit of money in case the worst happens.

Or maybe I'm just a sucker.

The only requirement is to have a designated person, say, myself, flown in to 'drive' the car to ensure quality control and so forth.

I use to have this problem when I lived in Colorado. I would take the then 996 out for a little slip and sliding late at night. Get it hot. That car the way it was configured wanted to swap ends on snow and it was a very useful exercise in losing adhesion.

I feel your pain. Might rain here tomorrow.
