Was at the dealer today and was discussing rev codes with a tech and then later with a service writer. According to one of the techs they do not use a Type I and Type II system anymore. A Type II was the serious infraction that would cause a warranty claim to be denied usually caused by a missed downshift. Now they have a number sysytem of 1-6. A 1 being a minor offense and not even looked at by Porsche and a 3-4 more serious and a 6 more than likely a denied warranty claim.

Just curious if anyone knows what causes a level 1 code is it a simple hit of the rev limiter or just getting close to the rev limiter?

997's have 6 ranges that are broken down as follows:
Range 1: 7300-7500 RPM
Range 2: 7500-7700 RPM
Range 3: 7700-7900 RPM
Range 4: 7900-8400 RPM
Range 5: 8400-9500 RPM
Range 6: 9500-11000 RPM
