what does this mean. got this warning message today on my dash. my car just went over 9000 miles and i had an oil cahnge done at about 6000 miles. is it telling me i need some other maintenace work
I had my oil and oil filter changed at c.4k miles a long while ago. This service warning message is not the same thing. It is for the car's 20k miles or 2 year service. It includes an oil change amongst other things. In order to get this service warning reset, you will also need to have your brake fluid changed, the air conditioning unit filter changed and possibly some other bits.

THE SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON FOR OIL CHNAGES DETERMINED BY DRIVING STYLLE AND CONDITIONS , IT ALSO COMES ON AS A FUNCTION OF TIME IF THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN. TO GET THE LIGHT RESET YOU DONT NEED TO CHANGE ANYTHING JUST RESET THE LIGHT
Mine indicated a service interval at two years from when the car was built; it had not hit 20k miles yet. (The oil had been changed a few times at my own intervals; the dealer should not re-set the indicator unless it's at a service interval determined by time or mileage.)
just called both dealerships nearby and they said it needs the annual maintenance. oil change, filters, new wipers, and cleaning out some ducts. all for only $450. is this whats involved in the 20k service? oh and they also said brake fluid change for another $130.

correct - 2 years, as I stated in my post.

that's like saying you can also get rid of it by setting fire to the car?!?!?! I guess you are correct to an extent... BUT to officially get rid of the 2 year / 20k mile service light you need to have a 2 year / 20k mile service. A service comprises of a number of things like a load of checks on the car, an engine oil / filter change, air con filter change, brake fluid change, etc, etc.
Bottomline is if you don't get your car serviced, you won't have the right Full Service History dealership stamps come resale.
I only know this as I had my C2S done last Friday.
