not wrong, but think what you want, if you beat on the car the service light will come on sooner.
Ive seen plenty of 997s with service now lights on under a year old and under 10k miles.
We reset the light at every oil change and service.

Mine had turned on 1 month before it's 2yr date of production even though it had only 8000 miles on it at that time. So it guess the computer starts counting as soon as it leaves the factory. It must be a function of time and usage.

I had the oil change and brake fluid change 1 month prior to the light comming on. Incedentally i got also got a message saying "system fault go to workshop" The dealer hooked it to the computer and reset everything for me. So i guess im good for the next 2 yrs.

is there any way to turn off the service light yourself if you've done all the maintenance yourself?
