I had Pirellis on my Cayenne and had them rebalanced twice, only to have the shimmy come back at 70 MPH each time. After the second complaint, the dealer said the tires were cupped. Apparently, this is fairly common for these tires, at least according to the dealer.
At any rate, I scrapped the OEM wheels and tires and went with new rims and tires--the car has never driven better! Thankfully, no problems with the 997.
