Unhappy Fabspeed Mufflers contact fender support rods, help!

I recently installed a set of Fabspeed Maxflow mufflers and love the sound. Unfortunately, the front of the mufflers contact the alluminum fender support rods. At low rpm, during rev up, the movement of the engine and mufflers causes unwanted noise and vibration. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Remedy? I am reluctant to bend the rods becuase of their construction. Of course I will contact Fabspeed, however, this web site and prior threads have been extremely helpful.

P.S. I used to be a mechanic so I am sure the parts have been installed correctly.

Thanks!!!!

I believe you should not install the support rods. This is what I remember from reading the install instructions. I did not install the support rods on my setup and everything works great.

Give Fabspeed a call this AM. I think I spoke with Mike before buying my mufflers. He sounded very knowledgable. I'm sure they've installed the same set-up and my have a quick/easy answer.

I think the instructions say bend them-- u can always by replacements from Porsche--shouldnt be more than 500 for 2 12in metal rods. LOL --seriously they cant be that much--maybe call before doing

Why wouldn't Fabspeed build their mufflers to the correct size so we don't have to bend parts on our cars. Other aftermarket mufflers fit without trouble.

Just put a slight bend in the rod, they will fit fine.

i think AWE mufflers do the same thing. at least thats what my installer said. the fabspeed instructions says that the metal rods arent needed, even up to very high speeds. anyway, i figure if porsche put them there, there is a reason. so just bend them slightly. easy fix.
