Default Brighter Rear Tail Light

Lately I've noticed several 997's where the left tail light is brighter than the right side. Looks like the brake light is stuck on. I checked my car and both lights are equal brightness.

Anyone else notice this?

This is the European rear fog light. It only comes on when you pull out the light switch to the second position. (The first position out turns on the two front fog lights only). In certain markets the rear fog requirement is for a single light, as bright as a brake light, but only on one side to differentiate it from brake lights. In the UK market, for example, (with their tough fog conditions) they go with two,--one on each side. Porsche has apparently decided to put a single one on the left side for the USA market. (Which I heartily approve!)

If you've ever lived or driven in severe fog areas (the Netherlands comes to mind) this simple devise is a lifesaver.

I've driven in Europe, but never in the fog. However, I've been "in the fog" on European rear fog light operation. :-]

Went out to the garage and sure enough, it lights up nice and bright!

Lean something new every day here on Rennlist. Thanks, Dan.

But don't ya just love people telling you your brake light on left is too bright because you put the wrong bulb in?

My Porsche's all have the one - my Audi has TWO...

You would think there would be a standard with autos from the same country...
