Excuse my ignorance as I am rather new to the Porsche world. Question: Can you lease a CPO car from a Porsche dealer or are they only for sale?

yes, you can lease it.
but money factor (interest rate of sorts) are significantly higher on used car vs. new cars.

Agreed about the money factor being higher, but in theory shouldn't the difference between the purchase price and the residual be less than on a new car?
I'm guessing not enough to overcome the much higer interest rates....

CPO'd Porsche's typically don't lease out that 'well' as compared to other leased vehicles. Main reason why are that banks have a hard time comparing a 997S coupe to another 997S coupe= each one is pretty unique compared to say, a MB CLK500. Unless it's an AMG, which have their own money factors and residuals, all CLK500's within a certain mileage critieria are all the same. Thus the bank can accurately give it a proper residual value and money factor.
In Porsche land, the 911's are, dollar for dollar the best leasing scenario's. Main reason why I'm getting a C2 coupe Vs. a well loaded Cayman S. They lease out much better. AND 911's hold their value much better then compared to a Cayenne or Boxster.
Unless you have a business to run the lease through, the payment on a CPO'd car might be out of whack for what you want to spend.
