Default hand car wash in manhattan

Any referrals to good hand car wash places in Manhattan or vicinity? I have only found one place in the city.

Also looking for a good detail shop. Thanks.

I lived in Manhattan for 8 years,....the closest I ever came to a hand wash were the homeless squeegee guys near the Lincoln tunnel that would squirt their urine on my windshield and ask for money to clean it off.

look for a mobile detailer or ask dealer what they use.

Funny how those guys show up out of the blue.

I'm sure you paid them well. Now you didn't forget to tip did you?

ONR

Or this one as well: QEW

Haha, I remember them. Ammonia cleans better than pure spit...

What I do is when pulling up to a light or traffic at an intersection is to NEVER pull right up to the car in front of you - when you do that they got you! Give yourself some space and when they approach you just pull up - the impatient jerk off behind you who was honking at you for not moving up (like there's any place to go) immediately moves up and right into Mr. Squeege's hands!!

There's a decent place just across the river in Hoboken, NJ. I forget the name of it but it's on the side closest to Jersey City on a street called "Observer Highway". I used to take my car there and they quite often had expensive sports cars and sedans (even an occasional Ferrari) waiting to be washed.

They also did a pretty good job with detailing vehicles as well.

Does that stuff really work? What about when your car is fairly dirty? Do you really only use 1-2 gallons of H2O and then let it dry or microtowel it?

I saw one the other day. It was about 52nd and the west side hwy in a warehouse. It was on the second floor. Had a "Denon" sign on the corner of the building. Said Hand Wash and Detail on window letters.

Let me know, I was thinking of giving it a try.

Yes it works very well. Acts like melting the dirt off the finish, very neet to see. Most mobile deatilers use this for that very reason, limited water.

Both work well, some like QEW and others like ONR. You can find QEW at many RV stores/ dealers as that's where it got its start in the RV world.

BTW, Optimum polish is very good as well. Quite a lot of people are now using this polish in place of others as it does a really nice job.

Dry like normal unless you have water via reverse osmosis or other "filtered" water.

More info on Autopia on these as they are used often.

Deanski

I went through the Linclon inbound at 5:30 this eve. After 9/11 they have chased most of the squeegee guys off. Still took 40+ minutes plus to get through the 1 mile bootleneck before the entrance.
