LA Area Body shops
I have an inch long slight dent on front bumper and I want it repaired to perfection. I went to two Los Angeles area body shops for an estimate. Pacific Porsche in Gardena and Class Auto Center in Long Beach. Both had different opinions on the repair:
Pacific Porsche suggested taking the bumper skin off and sending it out for repair and then they would paint just the area repaired with paint and then clear coat the entire bumper.
Class Auto Center suggested a new skin with total repaint of bumper and then re-clear coat fenders, hood and bumper. This seems like a lot of paint work for a small dent in bumper.
Has anyone had their front bumper repaired and repainted and did it match 100%? Any recommendations on LA area body shops?

If Pacific can do the job minimally, absolutely go for it...it's not their first 911 bumper cap repair. Besides, if it is not to your satisfaction, you shouldn't have to pay for it.
Chances are good that you've got at least a little bit of rash or rock chips on the hood if you've got some miles on your car...if I were you, I'd definitely NOT want clearcoat over it; it should be prepped and re-sprayed first. It's a slippery slope once you start painting panels, and no eventual buyer wants to hear your explanation as to why...it will be assumed your car was in an accident.
As far as shops in LA, Avio has a good reputation, although I haven't used them. They did give me an estimate once, and their approach was also for minimal work compared to other shops.

Eli's Auto Body in Los Angeles is good (on 3rd near Beverly center next door to Sushi Roku). I had a rear bumper replaced there and they were very professional, fast and reasonable. I would definitely go there again.
