I am about to take the plunge and obtain my first Porsche.

2006 997s cab -(new)

Meteor Gray, Stone gray int, blk soft top

6sp

Bose, power heated seats, chrono, cd changer, 19" classic wheels

Is 10% off MSRP realistic?

What have others heard or paid?

Thanks in advance.

7% is probably their best offer, John. 10% is possible. It depends totally on how forceful you are in your negotiations, as the 2007s are here...

Where are you located?

Depends where you are but 10% is very good if you can get it.

I'm somewhat surprised about Meteor Grey being available on a 2006 car. I thought it was only introduced on 2007's.

My car wasn't an S but I was able to get 10%. I had a one or two dealers that offered more but a local dealer agreed to my offer. Most discounts including the S from my calls and emails to dealers ranged from 8-11% discount with one dealer willing to go to 10% on an S. I extended my search nationally by going to the Porsche website and looking at every dealer's inventory. Took a while ;-)

I remember searching for the discounts that people were getting for new 2006 cars when I was about to order mine last December. Five percent off was already possible back then, with no 2007 models in sight. So, from that point of view, I would expect at least 10 percent off. Or go for a 2007 model to begin with.

Follow up.

I followed the above advice, did a national search, and 11% off of a 2006 997 s cab.

I am the excited, proud, smiling new first time owner of a P car. Wow!

Tomorrow I make a road trip to get the 500 mile break in as dealer recommended, then I get to try a few runs at 4000 rpm plus. Can't wait.

Thanks for weighing in. I will post some pix soon.

Good job and Congrats! This site has already helped you save about $5,000. Now.... let us help you spend that $5K on some mods!

BTW - we WILL hold you to the "pics" promise!

Congratulations! Did you use the national numbers to persuade the local dealer to provide this discount, or did you have to buy it elsewhere? How would you assess the two local St. Louis dealers?

heh, rennlist can save you money! That's why I paid my dues.
Please note this is not a suggestion that you HAVE to pay, or that it's 'right' to pay - it doesn't make a difference!
