Default Squeaky instrument-binnacle

My Audi TT ran 100,000ks and was squeak- and rattle-free to the end. As a result, I've become a squeak and rattle-eliminating crazy man.....
My C2S is serene with the windows up after 8,000miles but the instrument-binnacle - the five dials - has just started making a small sqeak. I'm thinking it's some friction surface where the instruments slot into the dashboard.
Is that binnacle an easy remove? Has anyone tried it?
(Could it be mice or hamsters, their stubby tails trapped and plaintiff voices crying out for succour.....?)

If there's room try sliding a credit card under different areas to isolate the squeak, once isolated, push in a piece of felt which should then eliminate the squeak.

There's a TSB for that squeek, draxa: #9025 dated 13 Dec 2005. It involves inserting some felt and tricot tape near the cluster centering pins... see your workshop.

Excuse me, Don, but what's a 'TSB' and '#9025' mean?

2nd definition is
Technical Service Bulletin
An engineering document published to inform Dealer service people about a specific problem with detailed instructions on how to correct the problem

draxa....did it come all the time or over rough spots in the road. Were you able to replicate it and isolate it when not driving? can you give us an update on if and how the dealer fixed it?

It's funny i thought i was the only one with this problem. But for me it comes and goes and is worse after driving on rough roads for a while but is not there initially. It does act up under certain conditions and other times it is quite so not sure what to do.

Sharmat, this squeak is more noticable first thing in the morning. I guess even in summer here, the interior is cooler and that perhaps has an effect. By the time I get to work - twenty minutes - the squeak has usually gone and I'm seldom aware of it coming home.
I'd already made a tenuous connection with temperature and that prompted me to seek a solution; we're in October (well we are tomorrow....) and the next six months is a lot cooler than the past five so I'd like to fix this wretched thing.
And I'm a nut.

Hey '500' thanks for the credit card/felt tip; I did just that and it worked a treat. The car is quiet as a grave (heh, heh....) now.

Draxa - next time you're in the workshop, mention the TSB and have them fix it per Porsche spec.

You're not a nut. I swear, I can hear the individual cylinders firing on this car at idle... if I was as attuned to my spouse, life would be spectacular... <g>

Good luck!
