Default Normal Operating Oil Temp?

I have looked at the manual and could not find this. Can anyone tell me the normal oil temp for a 997S?

Thanks

Jim, I'm not sure if the manual gives this data. My car runs from 200-225 in 70 degree weather. If there is a "normal" range, I'd like to know that. Water, of course, is pinned at 175 degrees - electronically damped, I'm sure.

The only time mine ever gets over 225 is in stop and go traffic when it's over 80 outside. BTW my Cayenne water temp gets hotter when on 4WD roads otherwise it's pegged in the middle.

Maybe a little OT but in the conversation:

My car's water runs just above the 175 mark normally and just this week it went over by a marker to return when the car was stopped. Moderate daytime temps in Vegas.

B - in the 80s or 90s, then? My BMW does the same thing - one needle width over center - when it's above 80 degrees or so and I'm stopped in traffic.

Depends whether you want the normal gauge reading or the actual temperature. The 997 DOES NOT have a normal coolant temperature of 175 as indicated on the gauge. Additionally, the indicated oil temperature is also too low.

That's it. I asked the service manager about it in the first year in a fit of new car owner paranoia, he said not to worry about it unless it hits the red area.

It's part of my affectionate summary of my car: "My pepe runs a little hot and likes to mark it's territory".

I remember our original discussion about this, '99P911 - all that I can concern myself with as a driver is what the gauges say... but the engineer side of me knows that you're correct...
