Typically $100-200 if available in your state. You don't own the plate, you get to use it, the state owns it...so you can't sell it to anyone else for a profit. Also you can actually have pretty much anything on the plate within a few restrictions (dependant on the state). Some good english swear words are available here as the authorities don;t know what they mean.....so you could have ****** (not that you would want to!!)!!!

I have a friend who had WHTKRAKR, but it got stolen. I have another friend who has HORNBALL. I like plates that are funny. I like ones that say you drive fast but think they are a target for the law to watch you a little closer. Not to big on plates that state what kind of car you drive like RED 997S, BLUE M3 or MUSTANG.

In the uk there are not that many great combinations of plates available, for example you generally cannot have a simple word..plates are mostly combos of letters and numbers. Also you own the plate, not the state, and you can sell it for aprofit. So it's supply and demand. For example 'A911CAR' is a valid plate that someone owns and may sell to the highest bidder. The UK has one 'state' for 60m people...so lots of demand with limited supply.

After seven years my 944 is back on the road again. The personalized plate that was turned in back in 2008 was still available and yesterday it was ordered.
The paperwork reads POR CHA, the plate reads POR$CHA
Symbols and characters are available in NC but are excluded from the official documentation. Price, an extra $30.00 annually.

I've always had personalized plates but I think I'll just stick with govt. issued for now. In California we have some neat designer plates that cost next to nothing and make things unique.
