Default AWE Exhaust system for base 997

I am interested in upgrading the exhaust of my 2005 C2, and like others having been debating Fabspeed vs AWE. I was surprised to find that as I am in the North Philly suburbs I actually live only about 10 mins from Fabspeed and 20 mins from AWE. Based on reports I am leaning towards AWE. Initially thinking of just the mufflers (for sound), I then got curious about the whole exhaust system, and read with interest the massive thread back in June where Mike/AWE tested and published the HP/torque gains on the car of a Rennlister. My question for Mike (or anyone): how does the system do with the 3.6 liter 997? Would I expect to see comparable gains? Has anyone had the AWE system fitted to a base 997.

PS. Please save the advice about trading up to an S....that is too visible...mods I can do below the radar, if you know what I mean...;-)

Thanks

Nigel

Got an e-mail response from AWE yesterday (Friday) and they said 12 hp. Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I can forward it to you.

I have the AWE headers, cats, mufflers paired with the EVO intake and GIAC flash. I was able to get about +30 to +35 HP in my 997S according to the before and after dyno test.

Good luck!

Thanks, Synergy. It seems that on the base Carrera, the full exhaust system only gains you 12hp, so not worth it in my opinion. I may still go for the muffler though. On another subject, which lowering springs did you fit and how are they working out?

Synergy, many of the posts on the Fabspeed mention that there is a noticeable resonance around 2,500 RPM range. Have you noticed any resonance in the AWE system? Also, are those Kinesis F110's on your car? And, if so what size Wheels and Tires are you running? Thanks!

No resonance with the AWE setup - at any RPM. Yes, I have the 110's using the stock tires w/ a 11MM rear spacer.
