Question trade up costs

I see where quite a few people have traded in one year's p-car for the next year's (presumably at the same dealership). How much does that typically cost you ? Does the dealer give you that good a trade in value for a "good" customer to make these quick trade-in deals financially reasonable ?

I have a 997s that I bought in 12/04, so all the "cool" upgrades like x-51 and new models came out later as I began looking for more power and was on the Las Vegas Turbo list, ran through the numbers and I was comming in with @ 9k for the negative on the '05 so I could pay full retail for the Turbo.

Depends on the dealer, the vehicle and your relationships as well as how their inventory is looking at the end of the month. I did min on 29 Aug and got about $7k difference between my old early 1999 996 and an 05 997 C2 which I purchased CPO. In the end it didn't make that much of a difference to me comparing the 2 cars as the optioned 997 was much more of an upgrade from the 996 which was a base car. So the deal was reasonable for me.
