I have a Water Boss softener in my home, and like it very much. http://www.waterboss.com/

Recently switched it over to Potassium Chloride from Sodium Chloride, as it uses so little "salt" that the cost is negligible. Potassium is good for people and plants like it also.

As far as using it on the car, I have been reluctant to do that as a softener merely exchanges sodium (or potassium) ions for the calcium ions - you still have minerals on your paint.

I saw the CR Spotless system at Parade, it it looked pretty impressive. But at $5 per wash for filters, I'lll contimue to chamois the water off the car. Porsches are small.

My CRspotless unit never worked in Scottsdale. We have hard water. I had the filters replaced and it did not work. Then I had the unit replaced and it still did not work. It is heading for the dumpster. Want it?

I also have a CR Spotless, and I love it.

pjconner, yes I'll take it and try it out. Don't throw it away. Tampa, FL has very hard water so I wonder if it will work. Contact me about shipping info and so forth.

Exchange also happens for magnesium ions as well. Hard water is primarily defined by the amount of dissolved minerals, specifically calcium and magnesium. Both of which are removed from by a water softner.

The whites spots you see on your car are typically the result of hardwater.

You shouldn't hesitate to use soft water to wash your car. You'll also get much better sudsing action.

CR spotless called me yesterday. I have been out of town, so I will call them next week. Maybe we will sort it out. And I am moving to Dallas and it may work better on the water there.

I have to say, CR spotless has good customer service if they call me based on my post above. Stay tuned.
